Financial overview

Income & Expenditure 1 April 2006 to 31 March 2007

Incoming resources:

Colchester and Tendring Women’s Refuge total income for 2006–07 was £541,564. This compares with £634,495 for the previous year. The pie chart below shows where that money came from.

Outgoing resources:

The Refuge spent £606,979 in 2006–07 (compared with £579,644 in the previous year). Where that money went is illustrated in the pie chart below. 99% was direct charitable expenditure.

The money we received this year allowed us to:

• Provide crisis housing for 117 women.
• Accommodate 190 children.
• Support 261 Outreach clients and their children.
• Support 44 women and their families under our
  Floating Support service as they re-established themselves in the community.
• Help 40 women move towards greater independence and self-confidence, through participating in our
  group therapy programme.
• Finance 184 attendances by our trustees, staff and volunteers on 40 different training courses, as part of our programme for keeping abreast of the latest legislation on, and thinking about, domestic violence, and for ensuring we maintain high standards in the daily running and overall strategic management of the charity.
• To continue to develop our support services.

The pie charts presented here and the summarised accounts have been extracted from the full audited accounts of Colchester and Tendring Women's Refuge for the year ended 31 March 2007. They have been prepared in compliance with the revised Statement of Recommended Practice (SORP) Accounting and Reporting by Charities issued in October 2000.
