Support for women - Refuge Outreach ServicesYour children and the RefugeHow will I feed my children? When you arrive we will, if necessary, provide you with food for the first two days. By that time we should have helped you sort your basic money needs out, but if there has been a delay we will give you additional emergency supplies. What will happen to my children? Our Children's Room is now an Ofsted Registered Setting. As well as ensuring a high standard of care, we can now offer longer sessions and mothers can leave their children in our care if they need to go out. The setting provides an Early Years Foundation Stage curriculum tailored to meet the needs of children who have experienced domestic abuse so that pre-school children can continue to have access to an Early Years Education with their own key worker in a safe and familiar environment. Refuge facilities for childrenYour children's needs concern us as much as your own. The Refuge has a team of qualified children's workers who will work with you to ensure that those needs are met during your stay and will support you in your parenting at this difficult time. Daily activities are provided at the Refuge for pre-school and school age children. These include regular outings in our minibus, ensuring that your children continue to have access to a range of experiences. Developments in our children's servicesWe have increased the number of staff from two to five. This includes two playworkers providing a programme of activities to children from 18 months of age, and three children's support workers who can work individually with mothers or children and help them to access any additional services that they may need. Views of some children's facilitiesIf you are concerned about the standard of accommodation your children can expect you can go to our picture gallery. |
