Leaving home

If you want to leave home:

Contact us at any time of day or night on our 24/7 helpline:
01206 500 585

The refuge can help you find somewhere to go
whether or not you have children

At the refuge itself we provide:

  • self-contained flatlets in good decorative order with bed/living room, kitchenette and WC
  • laundry facilities
  • communal lounges and meeting rooms with TV and video
  • supervised playroom and an outside play area
  • security-based entry systems with flood-lighting
  • 24-hour resident Support worker

Disabled women:

We have a specially equipped flatlet for disabled women and can arrange for a disabled woman to bring a female carer into the Refuge with her.

When you arrive at the Refuge:

If you move into the Refuge, the Welfare worker will show you your accommodation and provide personal support. She will also offer you advice on welfare benefits (e.g. Income Support), housing and legal rights.

This help can continue once you have moved out of the Refuge.

Facilities for your children:

Your children's needs concern the Refuge staff as much as your own and the Refuge has supervised child care sessions for younger children. It can, however, only accommodate boys up to the age of 16.

Children often need help because they have witnessed abuse and violence. Coping with your family can be exhausting. Our qualified childworkers can help you with this
